Hillside Park – Baldock

Baldock is a historic market town in the local government district of North Hertfordshire. The town is situated approx 33 miles (53 km) north of London, 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Bedford, and 14 miles (23 km) north northwest of the county town of Hertford. Nearby towns include Letchworth and Hitchin to the southwest and Stevenage to the south. Baldock town also has a local railway station with a train line running into London Kings Cross and there is an excellent selection of schools both state and private, to include The Knights Templar School, St Christopher School, Etonbury Academy and Hitchin Girls’ School.

Whats it like to live in Baldock?

If you are thinking of relocating your family to Hertfordshire, then you really should consider moving to Baldock, a pleasant little town with easy access to some beautiful countryside.

Whether you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and give your children a bit more space and fresh air to play and grow up with, or you are looking for a new home to downsize to that is close to good amenities and has good transport links, then Baldock could be the perfect place to settle down!

Baldock is great for family life
Baldock is a lovely small town that has a real countryside feel to it. If you are starting a family and are tired of being cooped up where you are in a cramped home, then Baldock offers a nice range of spacious homes with gardens for the kids to play in.

The town is quite small when compared to its nearest neighbours of Letchworth and Hitchin, but it has a peaceful and green feel that will get your whole family a little closer to nature.

There is plenty here to do for a family with young children. Because Baldock is so close to Letchworth and Hitchin, it is very well placed amongst these very vibrant market towns.

Each place has lots going on, which is great for families and many parents will travel between all three towns often to enjoy what’s on offer.

You could very easily fill your days several times over with local groups, events and regular activities on offer that are right on your doorstep!

Schools and education
When you move to a new location the local schools are always a top priority for parents. Luckily, Baldock has some excellent state schools and this is a very strong reason why the town sees new families moving here from North London.

It is no surprise to find that educational standards in Hertfordshire are among the best in the country!

Baldock town centre
The town centre has benefited greatly from a 3.2m enhancement scheme that has given a new vibrancy to the centre of town. The new pedestrianised area and broader pavements make it easier to access for parents with pushchairs and for disabled people with wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

The cafe culture in the town has been given a boost with the new makeover. There are more cafes offering tables and chairs outside so you can sit, sip and watch the world go by.

You will also find local events being held in the town that are steeped in tradition, such as the annual town festival, featuring everything from Morris dancing to book fairs, cricket matches, music concerts and whisky tasting!
